The new Zen Leaf dispensary will have over 4,000 square-feet of state of the art space, and the project will encompass both a full interior renovation, as well as an overhaul of the exterior.
The new facility will feature high open ceilings, natural wood display cases, rift oak accents, custom light fixtures and large four foot porcelain tiles. The spacious sales floor has been designed to comply with current Covid-19 measures, but also for the post Covid world where the consumer cannabis market will be in high demand.
“We’re beyond thrilled to be working on another project for Verano NJ,” says David Fettner, managing partner of GAB. This is our fourth Zen Leaf dispensary in the last year for Verano, and that familiarity allows us to work seamlessly with their first-rate construction and design team. We’re really excited to see this location open up in a few months. New Jersey has been a robust market for us and we consider ourselves fortunate to have an outstanding east coast team. We hope to continue this trend in New Jersey in 2021 as the state opens up for adult use.
The construction schedule projects the dispensary to open in early Spring 2021.

New Jersey Shore Dispensary to Bring Legal Access to Many Consumers.
Neptune City, New Jersey—
January 28, 2021 — Construction is underway on a new Zen Leaf recreational and medical dispensary at 2100 Asbury Avenue, Neptune City, New Jersey. Grow America Builders, a national, full-service, cannabis design-build construction firm based in Highwood, Illinois, announced the news Monday. The facility will be run by Verano, NJ, LLC. The Neptune City location offers nearly 5,000-square-feet of finished space, and is taking the former homes of Smashburger and a men’s clothier.
“GAB has delivered multiple dispensaries for Verano over the past couple of years in various states across the country,” said Michael Kaulentis, principal at Grow America Builders. “We’ve built many dispensaries in New Jersey, but are really excited to have the opportunity to build this high profile location right near the Jersey Shore where many consumers will have access to legal cannabis.”
Construction commenced in December by combining two adjacent units into one large space and has proceeded diligently while observing all Covid-19 guidelines. The high-concept aesthetic design will be consistent with other Zen Leaf dispensaries across the country; ultra-high ceilings, floor to ceiling windows, natural rift oak accents and massive four foot porcelain tiles are among some of the finishes that create a bright and inviting retail experience. Additionally, the large open sales floor and fourteen point of sale areas will allow an efficient consumer experience while also easily conforming to New Jersey social distancing measures once the store is operational.
GAB will also be working on improving the exterior with a new color scheme and awning, rejuvenating the curb appeal of the building which has stood vacant for months. Completion is expected in late February, 2021.
